Kanye West wades into Drake, J.Cole feud on ‘Like That’ remix

Kanye West has gotten involved in the ongoing rap beef between Drake, J. Cole, Future and Kendrick Lamar.

The controversial rapper – who now goes by Ye – continued his longtime drama with Drake over the weekend (April 20), when he made an appearance on Justin Laboy’s radio show The Download, and premiered his remix of ‘Like That’.

Originally, the song was shared by Future and Metro Boomin with help from Kendrick Lamar, and was seen as a response to Drake and J. Cole’s hit single ‘First Person Shooter’, from Drake’s 2023 album ‘For All The Dogs’.

The track featured on Metro Boomin’s latest joint album ‘We Don’t Trust You’, and saw Lamar stating: “Fuck sneak dissin’ / ‘First Person Shooter’ / I hope they came with three switches”.

In the song, Cole boasted: “Love when they argue the hardest MC / Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? / We the big three like we started a league.

In retaliation, Lamar continued his diss aimed at the two rappers adding: “Motherfuck the big three, n****, it’s just big me” – with the “big three” referring to the three rappers who are considered to be the greatest mainstream rappers of 2010’s hip-hop as dubbed by Cole.

After a lot of back-and-forth between the rappers, West has now gotten involved, sharing the remix of ‘Like That’ and taking aim at J. Cole and Drake.

Promoting the remix, Ye shared an NSFW meme that suggested that fans of J. Cole aren’t popular with women. He also honed in on the point in the lyrics, as well as taking aim at Drake’s label deals – hinting at the huge 2022 deal he signed with UMG.

It’s a wrap for n****s / Where’s Lucian, serve your master, n**** / You caught a little bag for your masters didn’t ya / Lifetime deal I feel bad for n****s,” he raps, taking aim at Drake. “Y’all so out of sight, out of mind / I can’t even think of a Drake line / Play J. Cole, get the pussy dry,” he adds.

Not only does the remix extend the long-running feud between Drake and Ye, it may also see the latter take aim at J. Cole due to the rapper omitting him when referring to “the big three”.

Drake and Lamar have been trading subliminal disses for nearly a decade, while Cole and the ‘Swimming Pools’ rapper have occasionally collaborated, with rumours of a joint LP in the works for years.

As for Ye, the rapper recently dropped his collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign, ‘Vultures 1’, and later posted a picture of himself in the studio with Metro Boomin, suggesting that the ongoing rap civil war is set to amp up again soon.

Last week, West was also accused of punching a man in the face who had allegedly “sexually assaulted” his wife Bianca Censori in Los Angeles.
