Kevin Spacey addresses upcoming Channel 4 docuseries: “I will not sit back and be attacked”
Kevin Spacey has addressed the release of an upcoming docuseries about him, which is due to be aired this week.
The two-part show, Spacey Unmasked, is coming to Channel 4 on May 6 and 7, and set to feature “never-seen-before interviews and archive” footage (as per Variety).
The docuseries will reportedly cover the American Beauty star’s life “from childhood to early success on Broadway and subsequent meteoric rise to stardom.”
The show is also set to explore Spacey’s sexual allegations and subsequent acquittal. A description reads: “In 2023 Spacey was acquitted of sexual offences against four men in a UK trial. This two-part series will investigate Spacey’s conduct and talks to multiple men unconnected to that case about their experiences with Kevin Spacey, almost all of whom have never spoken before.”
According to Variety, Spacey had been given the right to reply to remarks made in the upcoming documentary. On Thursday (May 2), the House Of Cards star took to X to post a statement, explaining how he had “repeatedly requested that Channel 4 afford me more than seven days to respond made against me dating back 48 years.”

He also claimed that the broadcaster had “refused on the basis that they feel that asking for a response in seven days to new, anonymised and non-specific allegations is a ‘fair opportunity’ for me to refute any allegations made against me.”
Spacey continued to address the upcoming documentary in his statement: “I will not sit back and be attacked by a dying network’s one-sided ‘documentary’ about me in their desperate attempt for ratings. There’s a proper channel to handle allegations against me and it’s not Channel 4.”
He concluded: “Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated.”
According to Variety, Channel 4 responded to Spacey’s statement saying: “Spacey Unmasked will broadcast on 6th and 7th May. Kevin Spacey has been given sufficient opportunity to respond.”
