Wake Up Dead Man, which stars Craig who reprises his role as master detective Benoit Blanc and an ensemble cast including Josh O’Connor, Mila Kunis and Andrew Scott, is the third film in the series and is scheduled to be released on Netflix in 2025.

Each Knives Out film sees Blanc surrounded by a different cast of characters, investigating a new suspicious death. A first look at Craig in the new film was released back in June, which showed him as Blanc with a new look, complete with a three-piece suit and hat.

Now, the film’s director, writer and producer Rian Johnson shared the snap on social media, writing: “A first look at Daniel Craig and Josh O’Connor in the next Benoit Blanc mystery, Wake Up Dead Man. Working on it, much more to come!”

In the Knives Out 3 promotion picture shared by Johnson, Craig is seen standing by O’Connor in a church aisle sporting a long hairstyle. Fans in the replies section of the post reacted positively to the photo, with one commenting “so very excited! One of my most anticipated of the year.”

Others asked for the film to have a theatrical release, writing in the replies: “Please make a theatrical release, I need to see this film in the cinema.”

Back in November, Craig said he hoped Netflix would give Wake Up Dead Man a longer cinema release. Speaking to Variety, when asked if he wishes that Wake Up Dead Man will play in cinemas for longer, Craig responded: “You know I do.”

Glass Onion, the most recent Knives Out instalment, did receive a theatrical release – but was only available on the big screen for a week before streaming exclusively on Netflix.

Craig told Variety: “Hopefully, Netflix will push it out a bit, and people will get to see it. The people I speak to — the fans, I suppose — all they want to do is take their families and go see it at the cinemas. That’s all they want to do. Hopefully we can give them that experience.”
