The singer made headlines earlier this year when rumours emerged that she had tied the knot in September – reportedly marrying alligator tour boat guide Jeremy Dufrene.
Speculation about the two began after the singer was seen holding hands with Dufrene at Reading Festival 2024, and on September 26, the Mail Online claimed that the two got married at a ceremony in Des Allemands, Louisiana – reportedly on the same bayou where Dufrene operates his swamp boat tours.
The outlet later published a series of photographs and video footage from the event, where Del Rey’s father Rob Grant was seen walking her down the aisle, and the news was confirmed in October when the couple’s marriage license was signed and returned to Louisiana’s Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court.
Now, Del Rey has spoken about the decision to get married while at the Variety Hitmakers ceremony over the weekend, and confirmed that it was inspired by Jack Antonoff.
While presenting the Bleachers frontman and producer with the Producer Of The Decade award on Saturday (December 7), the singer said that it was Antonoff’s marriage to actor Margaret Qualley that pushed her to wait for the right person to settle down with.
Lana Del Rey says Jack Antonoff is a "big reason why I waited so long to get married and why I met my amazing husband. And I really feel like there's kind of a singer's curse around meeting an honest partner who has no skin in the game, no dog in the race, and it's super… pic.twitter.com/PHA3Pozpic

“Most of all, I’m grateful for him for the example that he gave me in his marriage to Margaret,” she said in her speech. “I saw the way he looked at her when he met her, and he’s a big reason why I waited so long to get married, and why I met my amazing husband.”
“I really feel like there’s a singer’s curse around meeting an honest partner who has no skin in the game, no dog in the race,” Del Rey added. “It’s super nerve-racking to have to hold onto an innocent perception of how things could go when you’re in an industry where maybe your values or your morals don’t quite match up with what’s going on — especially when people think that you probably don’t have any morals or values.”
Rolling Stone previously reported that the two met back in 2019, when Del Rey posted a Facebook album with pictures of her and her friends taking one of Dufrene’s tours.
The wedding marks Del Rey’s first marriage and Dufrene’s second. Dufrene is already a father of two, it is reported.
In other Lana Del Rey news, the American singer-songwriter announced last month that she was planning to embark on a UK and Ireland stadium tour next summer. The dates all come in support of her forthcoming album ‘The Right Person Will Stay’, which is due to arrive in May.
Initially huge gigs in Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Dublin and London were announced, however following tickets going on sale, huge demand led to a second show in the UK capital being announced. All shows soon sold out and it was confirmed that Del Rey had become the highest-selling solo artist in 2025 across the UK and Ireland.
Her upcoming 10th album, ‘The Right Person Will Stay’, will mark the follow-up to her 2023 record ‘Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’ and is set to arrive on May 21.
Little else is known about the record at time of writing, although Del Rey has told fans on Instagram that it will comprise 13 tracks and potentially contain a lead single titled ‘Henry’.
Before then, she had already confirmed that the new project would see her venture into country music, and that regular collaborator Jack Antonoff and country musician Luke Laird would be involved. Initially, it was suggested that the album’s title was going to be ‘Lasso’.
Speaking to NME earlier this year, she hinted that the lyrics may be lighter than on her more recent material. “I’ve maybe less to say in terms of any self-revealing things like on ‘Tunnel’ or ‘Blue Bannisters’ or ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’, and just more melodic,” Del Rey said at the Ivor Novellos. “Maybe more American Songbook style?”
