Lauryn Hill confirms Europe and UK tour to proceed as planned, comments on axed US run
Lauryn Hill and the Fugees have confirmed that their planned Europe and UK tour late this year will proceed as planned, and have commented on their recently canceled North American tour.
Yesterday (August 7), it was revealed that Hill and the Fugees’ North American run of shows had been cancelled just three days before the trek was meant to kick off. At the time, no reasoning or explanation was shared for the cancellation, and the fate of the UK and Europe tour was left hanging in the balance.
Now, Hill has shed light on the situation, firstly confirming on social media that the Europe and UK tour is still going ahead – they had just announced additional shows for the European tour last week.
Hill wrote on Instagram: “The shows in the UK and Europe ARE MOVING FORWARD as planned.”
She then went on to explain why the North American tour was canned: “Last year, I faced an injury that necessitated the rescheduling of some of my shows. Regrettably, some media outlet’s penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines have seemingly created a narrative that has affected ticket sales for the North American portion of the tour. The trust and faith I have in my intentions and my commitment to my art seem to have been overshadowed by this unfortunate portrayal.”
She went on to assure her North American fans at the end of the post that they will be “back in full force” once “these unforeseen circumstances are resolved”.
All European tour dates are still on sale via the Live Nation website. You can get tickets to the UK and Ireland gigs here.

This tour comes after a run of dates of shows dedicated to ‘Miseducation’ were cancelled last November, when the artist cited a “serious vocal strain for the past month”. She has since returned to performing with a handful of shows across February, March and April of this year including a slot at Coachella.
In January 2022, the Fugees cancelled their planned tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of the ‘The Score’. In a statement made to social media, they wrote: “The continued Covid pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe.”
In April 2022, Fugees member Pras Michel was convicted for his involvement in a billion-dollar money laundering scheme on 10 federal counts. Michel’s legal issues would later be found to be a major reason for the cancellation of the Fugees’ anniversary tour.
