On May 1, the five-member girl group unveiled their first-studio album ‘Unforgiven’, led by their single of the same name. The new title track features legendary record producer Nile Rodgers of disco band Chic.
In the new visual for ‘Unforgiven’, the members of LE SSERAFIM don cowboy hats and perform the track from a Western-themed bar and later, a helipad, singing and rapping to the energetic single. Meanwhile, leader Kim Chaewon rides a white horse through a devastated city, jumping over the wreckage.
“Unforgiven, I’m a villain, I’m a / Unforgiven, Imma walk that road / Unforgiven, I’m a villain, I’m a / It’ll be remembered as a new era, Unforgiven,” they chant in the chorus.
In addition to the title track, ‘Unforgiven’ also includes the song ‘No Return (Into the Unknown)’, which the girl group performed at their first headlining concert earlier this year, along with the intro track ‘Burn the Bridge’ and four new B-sides.
Among these is ‘Eve, Psyche & The Bluebeard’s wife’, part of which had previously been featured in LE SSERAFIM’s ‘The Hydra’ trailer for their sophomore mini-album ‘Antifragile’.
Other tracks on ‘Unforgiven’ include new versions of ‘The World Is My Oyster’, ‘Fearless’ and ‘Blue Flame’ from the girl group’s debut mini-album ‘Fearless’. The record also three songs from ‘Antifragile’: ‘The Hydra’, ‘Antifragile’ and ‘Impurities’.
The new album is the girl group’s first studio album and third domestic release overall, following 2022’s ‘Fearless’ and ‘ANTIFRAGILE’. In a four-star review of the latter, NME wrote that it “showcases the best of LE SSERAFIM’s abilities while remaining faithful to their core value of fearlessly forging ahead in all they do”.
One of the group’s vocalists, Huh Yun-jin, also recently dropped her third solo self-written and -produced song ‘love you twice’, following this January’s ‘I ≠ DOLL’ and ‘Raise y_our glass’ in August 2022.
