Liam Gallagher responds after Doves share album posters joking about new Oasis material
Liam Gallagher has responded to Doves‘ new album posters that joke about new Oasis material.
The posters began popping up in Manchester’s Northern Quarter last week featuring a “fill in the blanks” puzzle alongside the question “Which chart-topping Mancunian band is releasing new music in 2025?”, alongside a five-letter word ending in “s”.
Clues below the word include “Two brothers”, “2025 UK tour”, “Formed in the 90s” and “Multiple #1 albums” – all things relevant to both Oasis and Doves, who both announced reunion tours for 2025.
The posters are in promotion of Doves’ new album ‘Constellations For The Lonely’, which was released on Friday (February 28) and featured the singles ‘Renegade’, ‘Cold Dreaming’, ‘Saint Theresa’ and ‘A Drop In The Ocean’.
Of course, they’ve drawn attention given the speculation surrounding a potential new Oasis album following the announcement of their colossal 2025 reunion tour.

Now, Liam has responded to the posters. One Twitter/X users replied to an image of them saying “Should have added are still northern didn’t become cockneys”, in reference to both Gallagher brothers now living in London.
Liam replied with: “Shat your math,” (“shut your mouth” in a cockney accent), and added to a further commenter: “I was made in MANCHESTER i live in LONDON omg im such a terrible person”.

The singer has been teasing an album for a while. In September, when one fan asked “Is it true that Oasis will have a new album???”, Liam replied: “Yep, it’s already finished.” He also responded to a fan asking if a new record was “in the air”, to which he said, “It’s in the bag mate fuck the air”.
Then, in November, he told fans on Twitter/X that he was “blown away” by the material Noel had written for the record. A comment he made back in April also resurfaced after the comeback announcement, in which he suggested Oasis would be recording a new album in November.
However, he soon backtracked on his earlier claims, telling fans in November there was “no Oasis album in the making” and that he “was fucking joking”
Only one month later, though, Liam made headlines once again by suggesting an album could be coming, but it will depend on if he and Noel are “kind to one another” while on tour.

As for Doves, they’re currently out on a UK headline tour without frontman Jimi Goodwin, who is continuing to work on his mental health. Last November, Goodwin was absent from the band’s first UK gigs since 2019.
Speaking about ‘Constellations…’ during an interview with NME in late 2024, Jez Williams explained: “This is quite a dark album. We started to write it after we cancelled The Universal Want’ tour, so some of the songs reflect that.
“We wanted ‘Renegade’ to start with this apocalyptic atmosphere. That’s what felt right for us after such a difficult time. Jimi was with us, but we were trying to make sense of all the mess – and that fed into the album.”
He continued: “We’re living in pretty fucking horrible times, so we wanted to reflect that but give a little hope. When you listen to Neil Young, it feels like he understands you. It’s music that can hold your hand in this dark world. I see this as a future soul album for outsiders. We want you to feel understood.”
The musician also told NME that Goodwin was “still working on his sobriety and mental health”, after Doves cancelled all their scheduled live performances in 2021.
“When we cancelled ‘The Universal Want’ tour, people were really fucked off that they’d bought these tickets after waiting for us since 2010, just for us to cancel,” Williams told NME.
“People just want to hear the songs. We never got to play that album live. Jimi’s not ready, but he gave us his blessing, so we’re going to take the songs out live with us.”
Doves’ current tour includes a show at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on March 13. This summer, they’ll headline Wychwood Festival 2025 alongside Shed Seven and James. See the full schedule, and find any remaining tickets here.
