Lil Durk’s 10-year-old son allegedly shot stepfather to protect his mother
Surveillance footage has surfaced allegedly showing Lil Durk‘s son shooting his stepfather during a domestic altercation with his mother.
Reports recently emerged about a July 1 incident in which the boy allegedly grabbed the weapon from his stepdad, Joshua Pippens, and then fired the gun at him.
Pippens took to Instagram last week, where he shared a video of the fight he had with the child’s mother that led to the alleged shooting.
“As y’all can see I was not the aggressor,” he wrote in the caption alongside the video, “and y’all also can see how I still had my gun on my hip.”
He added: “He grabbed my gun off my hip following his mom’s lead and tried to shoot me and then actually shot me. I advise y’all see it before they take it down #buildawareness.”
In a later post, Pippens shared a photo of an official document revealing that the 10-year-old was questioned by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Office “as part of the assessment investigation”.
According to the document, the child told the authorities that he saw his mother (Ms Travanna Collier) and Pippens arguing outside of the man’s mother’s home. He even said he encouraged his mum to “stop fighting with Mr Pippens” before getting out of the car and pushing Pippens.
The boy was also asked whether his mother had a gun, to which he said: “Yes, but it didn’t go off.” The police document also inferred that the boy claimed Pippens and Colliers were wrestling over the mother’s gun and, when Pippens dropped out of his pocket and onto the ground, the boy shot his stepfather in fear of his mother getting hurt.
At the time of writing, Durk has not explicitly commented on the incident. However, on Monday (July 8), the self-proclaimed Voice Of The Streets tweeted: “Save that money for them kids kids kids kids kids.”
Many think the tweet is a cryptic response to the recent reports.
The news comes a month after Lil Durk revealed to fans how happy he was with his family, sharing a photo of himself with all 10 of his kids on Father’s Day.
In the caption, he wrote: “Delete ‘Unhappy Father’s Day’ song out my catalogue. I’m happy now” – referring to his 2022 song from his ‘7220’ LP.
On the song, he opened up about not feeling like he was the best father to his children.
“Father’s Day come around, I swear to you it feel the worst-est/ ‘Cause when I ain’t talk to ’em in a couple days, that shit feel like a burden/ I be on stage like it’s all good knowin’ deep down it’s hurtin’,” he rapped on the tune.
Lil Durk is gearing up to release his ninth studio album, ‘Love Songs 4 The Streets 3’. The record is expected to be released later this year, and feature guest spots from Kanye West and Lil Baby.
It’ll be his first LP since finishing the ‘It’s All A Blur – Big As The What?’ tour alongside Drake and J. Cole.
