Lil Nas X has responded to Azealia Banks after she commented on his musical career, saying he “has NO BARS” and “really fell off so hard”.

Banks is notorious for her brash comments online about the entertainment industry, and Lil Nas X has become her latest victim. Over the weekend, the duo went back and forth online after Banks voiced her opinion on Nas X’s musical career, saying he “really fell off so hard.”

She continued: “Lil Nas X really fell off so hard. Lmfao that little cuntrag swore she was the tea. Bitch has NO BARS. Hahahahaahahahaa.”

Banks hasn’t explained why she sent the tweet, but the ‘Old Town Road’ star did reply with a quote tweet of his own, telling her that she would never reach his level of his success even if she tried.

“Azealia, I could never make a hit song again and you would still never in ur bussy soap-selling, chicken-sacrificing, botched body, hating ass miserable life,” he wrote in a now-deleted tweet. “Reach a 10th of my success. Love ur music btw.”

However, Nas X tried to soften the blow by praising Banks on his Instagram Stories by sharing a screenshot of him listening to ‘Out of Space’ – a song from her 2012 album ‘Fantasea’.

In a caption, he explained: “Sending u love Azealia. Wishing u nothing but guidance and clarity. I want u to chase ur dreams. Get on ur shit. It’s the best time – period – in music for ur art to thrive. IDC what [the] fuck shit u say about me. I wanna see u win and shine your light. U can drop this internet bully act at any time. Ur fans love u. We love u.”

This led Banks to hit back at Nas X. “Where, are, your, bars…,” she called out the rapper. “We are not going to use patronisation to circumvent the topic here… the topic is that you cannot fucking rap son.”

She continued: “You’re a terrible lyricist with pedestrian musical sensibilities. We need to come to a consensus on where your talent is. Fine, we can agree that [you’re] a little piece of eye candy for these desperate old white homo’s in fashion… but where is your music bitch?”

Banks’ comment came a week after it was announced that Nas X’s records for the longest-running Number One song on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart and the Canadian Hot 100 had been broken by Kendrick Lamar and Shaboozey, respectively. He lasted over

Nas X hasn’t released another LP since his 2021 debut album ‘MONTERO’ – which features his Number One singles ‘MONTERO (CALL ME BY YOUR NAME)’ and ‘INDUSTRY BABY’ featuring Jack Harlow. In a three-star review, NME wrote: “It’s refreshing to see Lil Nas X in a different, more reflective light, but in asserting himself so strongly as a serious artist, he occasionally forgets about the touch of magic that made him one in the first place.”

Since then, he has released multiple singles including three this year. Back in January, he dropped ‘J Christ’ – his first single of the year that was widely criticised for using biblical imagery to promote the song – before releasing ‘Where Do We Go Now?’ and ‘Here We Go’ from the soundtracks for his recent HBO documentary Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero and the film Beverly Hill Cop: Axel F, respectively.

Most recently, the 25-year-old revealed that he will be putting out new music next month and shared a teaser video of an unreleased song.
