Lil Nas X reveals why Taylor Swift collab didn’t work out

Lil Nas X has revealed that he almost collaborated with Taylor Swift.

The rapper shared that Swift approached him, hoping he would contribute a verse to one of her songs, but he ultimately turned down the offer.

“We were working on something,” he told E! News on Thursday (March 27) while on the red carpet for the GLAAD Media Awards. “She offered to let me try a verse on something, but I couldn’t catch a vibe for it, so it didn’t happen.”

However, he went on to say that it doesn’t mean the pair won’t work together in the future. “When it happens… Global. World. Tay-tay and Nassy,” he said.

Though a collaboration didn’t work out, the ‘Old Town Road’ singer expressed admiration for Swift. “I’m proud of my girl,” he said. “I love the album. She’s been doing her thing. She’s at the very tippety top. I’m thankful that she even considered me.”

It comes after Lis Nas released his second studio album ‘DREAMBOY’ on Friday (March 28) via Columbia Records. He launched the campaign late in 2024 with the ‘Light Again’ single, which was then followed by ‘Need Dat Boy’ in November and ‘Hotbox’ earlier this month.

‘Light Again’ featured production from Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter, and at the time Nas explained: “Dreamboy isn’t just an album,” the rapper explained on X. “It’s me coping with the loss of what once was and fighting for a new world. im so excited to bring you on the journey.”

As for Swift, she was recently honoured at the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2025, taking home the prize for Tour Of The Century. The career-spanning mammoth run of 149 shows took place across 21 months, and by the tour’s midpoint, she had already made history when it became the first tour to gross $1billion (£796million).
