Lily Allen says she’s “surprised” Charli XCX isn’t headlining Glastonbury 2025
Lily Allen has said that she was “surprised” to hear that Charli XCX wasn’t given a headline slot at Glastonbury 2025.
The bill for this year’s edition of the Worthy Farm festival was shared at the start of the month, with headliners being confirmed as Neil Young, The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo. Countless other names were also announced for the 2025 instalment, including confirmation that Charli XCX would be headlining the Other Stage on the Saturday.
In a new interview, Allen has shared her thoughts on the bill and said that while she thinks Olivia Rodrigo will deliver an unforgettable slot on the main Pyramid Stage, she was caught off guard by the news that the ‘360’ singer wasn’t headlining.
“I’m absolutely over the moon for [Rodrigo]. I think it’s going to be amazing and she will absolutely smash it,” she reportedly told The Sun (via Music News) over the weekend for the Bizarre column, following the two performing together in London last year.
“However, Charli XCX not headlining was a bit of a surprise, just because of the sheer amount of material that she has and how long she’s been around. And she’s English, and she’s had her fucking huge moment,” she continued. “So I don’t really understand why that’s happened.”

The news that Charli will be performing at Glasto 2025 comes shortly after she took home trophies at this year’s Grammys and won in five categories at the BRITs at the start of the month.
Her album ‘Brat’ was listed as number one on NME‘s 50 Best Albums of 2024 list. “‘Brat’ as cultural sensation was a sight to behold, to be sure,” it reads. “But ‘Brat’ as an album – the record at the core of the rollout, the music beneath the marketing – is quite simply exceptional. As a songwriter and lyricist, Charli has spent much of her career oscillating between the poles of unfuckwithable attitude and naked vulnerability.”
Glastonbury 2025 will take place on the final weekend of June, running from Wednesday June 25 to Sunday June 29 at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset. The first line-up poster arrived on March 6.
Other acts on the bill include Biffy Clyro, Wolf Alice, Noah Kahan, The Maccabees, Alanis Morissette, Lucy Dacus, Father John Misty, St. Vincent, Deftones, Scissor Sisters, The Libertines and Wet Leg.
As for Lily Allen, the singer and actor recently spoke candidly about her journey of “accepting pain” and how she may potentially get a tattoo in honour of that message following her split from actor David Harbour.
