Listen to Kendrick Lamar take down Drake with new six-minute diss track ‘Euphoria’
Kendrick Lamar has hit back at Drake with a six-minute-long diss track, Euphoria’, in which he calls him a “master manipulator” and also questions his abilities as a father.
Lamar re-ignited his feud with Drake last month on a song with Future and Metro Boomin‘s new track ‘Like That’, on which he also hit out at J. Cole. Cole later responded with his own diss, ‘7 Minute Drill’, but he later apologised for it and pulled it from streaming.
Drake’s own response came in the form of ‘Push Ups’ and ‘Taylor Made Freestyle‘ but landed in hot water after he used AI to emulate Tupac Shakur‘s vocals, leading to the late rapper’s estate threatening legal action. He subsequently removed the track from streaming.
Now, despite Drake claiming that his rival had “nothing to drop” in response, Lamar has fired back with ‘Euphoria’. Addressing him directly for the first time at the end of the first verse, he raps: “Know you a master manipulator and habitual liar, too/But don’t tell no lie ’bout me, and I won’t tell truths ’bout you.”
Lamar also makes direct reference to ‘Taylor Made Freestyle’, accusing him of disrespecting Tupac’s legacy – “Somebody had told me that you got a ring/On God, I’m ready to double the wage/I’d rather do that than let a Canadian n***a make ’Pac turn in his grave.” He also attacks Drake’s use of AI in general later on with the lines “Am I battling ghost or AI? N***a feeling like Joe Austeen/Funny, he was in a film called AI and my sixth sense tellin’ me to off him.”
Later, Lamar also questions Drake’s capabilities as a father – “I got a son to raise but I can see you know nothin’ bout that/Wakin’ them up, know nothin’ ’bout that/And tell ’em to pray, know nothin’ ’bout that/And givin’ ’em tools to walk through life like day by day, know nothin’ ’bout that.”
He goes on to also question Drake’s blackness – “How many more black features do you finally feel like you’re black enough?” he raps, later remarking: “Ain’t 20 v 1, it’s 1 vs 20 if I gotta smack n****s that write with you”. Meanwhile the outro uses the line “We don’t want to hear you say ‘n***a’ no more.”
Meanwhile, last week, comedian Munya Chawawa poked fun at the feud with his own parody diss track where he imagines what Lamar’s response would have been like.
The 31-year-old raps in a squeaky voice: “And your last track was average / Fell off like Cinderella’s shoe on the way to the carriage / Off with his head like the Queen said to Alice / Drake only go for girls under 21, Yo! I’m a savage.”
