Listen to Michael Kiwanuka’s powerful new single ‘Floating Parade’
Michael Kiwanuka has shared a new single called ‘Floating Parade’, made with Danger Mouse and regular collaborator Inflo. Listen to it below.
The release of the powerful track follows Kiwanuka’s stellar performance on Glastonbury‘s Pyramid Stage last month. It marks his first new music since his 2021 single ‘Beautiful Life’ – recorded for the documentary Convergence: Courage In A Crisis.
The North London musician’s new song is underlaid with soulful bass and dreamy strings, and it loosely narrates the experience of tapping into your senses. ‘Floating Parade’ was first aired during Kiwanuka’s Glastonbury set, with the studio version available to stream now.
Tune in here:
This summer Kiwanuka is billed to headline Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire and play at NOS Alive (Lisbon), Gurtenfestival (Bern), Montreux Festival (Montreux), Syd For Solen (Copenhagen) and Grape Festival (Letisko Trenčín).
He has a few September headline dates in Canada, but will then embark on a joint headline tour of the US with Brittany Howard – making stops at cities such as Seattle and New York.
Michael Kiwanuka and Brittany Howardd’s 2024 North American tour dates are:
SEPTEMBER
29 – The Met, Philadelphia
30 – Roadrunner, Boston
2 – The Capitol Theatre, Port Chester
3 – Summerstage In Central Park, New York
However, he was forced to delay the tour for the record due to illness and then pandemic-related barriers, before finally hitting the road with ‘KIWANUKA’ in 2022.
NME gave ‘KIWANUKA’ a five-star review, writing: “This album becomes even more emotive when you think that Kiwanuka was on the verge of giving up five years ago. It’s the sound of an artist examining the politics of prejudice that have led him to self-doubt and out of it again.
“It’s also the sound of an artist coming into his own through brave and dizzying experimentation.”
