Lord Of The Rings game Tales Of The Shire has been delayed once again – and will now launch this summer.

Tales Of The Shire: A Lord Of The Rings game allows you to live out your Hobbit fantasy “in the wonderfully serene landscape of the Shire”. Originally the fantasy life simulator was due to launch last September but was delayed to early 2025 to allow developers time to “deliver their vision”.

It’s now been confirmed that Tales Of The Shire has been delayed once more. The Lord Of The Rings game will now be released July 29 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam.

“A good Hobbit feast takes time and so does Tales Of The Shire. We’re taking a little longer to ensure that every Hobbit, on every platform, can enjoy the same cosy experience,” reads the post from Wētā Workshop.

“We want this game to feel like a warm hug from Middle-earth, and we are making sure that no matter where you play, you’ll feel right at home in The Shire. From foot-hair styles to the fluffiest cakes, every detail will be just right,” they promised

Last year, developers shared the first 16-minutes of gameplay. In Tales Of The Shire, players are able to create their own Hobbit but the game also promises familiar faces from the world of Lord Of The Rings.

“Greet comfort at the door as you decorate your own Hobbit hole, tend to your garden, fish at the clear ponds, forage wild fruits and herbs, or trade with townsfolks. Prepare homemade meals to share with fellow Hobbits and foster relationships,” reads the description while the launch trailer explained: “There are many tales of Middle-earth. Tales of courage and brave deeds in dark times. But that is not our story. For this is one of new beginnings.”

Last year, both Black Myth: Wukong and Enotria: The Last Song had to scrap planned Xbox launches due to “challenges” with working with Microsoft. Baldur’s Gate 3 was also delayed on Xbox due to Microsoft’s requirement for feature parity between the Series X and less powerful Series S.

In other news, Imagine DragonsStarfield theme ‘Children Of The Sky’ will be the first song broadcast from the Moon if a planned mission goes ahead later this month.
