Madonna reacts to Trump posting image of himself as a ‘King’: “If this is a joke, I’m not laughing”
Madonna has reacted angrily to Donald Trump posting an image of himself under the banner ‘Long Live The King’.
On Wednesday (February 19), the official White House account on X posted a mocked-up Time Magazine cover with the title switched to ‘Trump’, its image depicting the US president wearing a crown as he stands in front of the New York City skyline.
Madonna was one of the people to respond to the post, taking to her Instagram Stories on Thursday (February 20) to point out the irony of Trump referring to himself as a monarch, despite the nature of the foundation of the United States.
"CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!"

“I thought this country was built by Europeans, escaping living under the rule of a king, to establish a New World governed by the people” Madonna noted. “Currently, we have a president who calls himself our King. If this is a joke, I’m not laughing.”
The Queen Of Pop has been outspoken on the subject of Trump several times over the years, including her recent comments on his raft of executive orders following his January inauguration.
“It’s so sad to watch our new Government slowly dismantling all the Freedoms we have been fighting for and WON over the years”, she wrote, adding rainbow flag and a broken heart emojis. “Don’t give up the Fight!”
After Trump’s election win in November, she wrote: “Trying to get my head around why a convicted felon, rapist, bigot was chosen to lead our country because he’s good for the economy?”
In a follow-up story, she also shared an image of a cake with the words “Fuck Trump”. She also said she “stuffed my face with this cake last night!”.
Madonna was also highly prominent at the Women’s March on Washington after Trump’s first inauguration in January 2017. “I’m angry,” she told the crowd. “Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House. But I know that this won’t change anything.”
“We cannot fall into despair,” she added. “As the poet W. H. Auden once wrote on the eve of World War Two, “We must love one another or die.” I choose love. Are you with me?”
In other Madonna news, she recently announced a re-release for her classic 1994 album ‘Bedtime Stories’, although no release date has been confirmed.
“My Valentine’s Day gift to all my fans is to let you know I’m putting my heart and soul into my new music and I can’t wait to share it with you!! . Confessions Part 2,” read her announcement.
