MARINA has announced her sixth album ‘Princess Of Power’ – listen to new single ‘Cuntissimo’ below.

The singer-songwriter (fka Marina And The Diamonds) is due to release the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land’ on June 6. You can pre-order/pre-save it here.

She’ll explore the themes of “power, sexuality and desirability” as she embarks on this new era. ‘Cuntissimo’ is described as “a love song to independence” that “pays tribute to the women who unapologetically own all of the above” (“Salma Hayek in the sun/ Louise and Thelma on the run“).

In a statement, MARINA explained: “So often, women don’t think they’re allowed to feel their sexuality in a way that doesn’t involve how it looks for men.

“They feel that it’s been co-opted – I would love to be able to free younger women of that, the feeling that our bodies don’t quite belong to us.”

‘Cuntissimo’ marks the third preview of the forthcoming ‘Princess Of Power’, following on from ‘Cupid’s Girl’ and ‘Butterfly’. It is accompanied by an official music video, directed by Olivia de Camps – which is due to go live at 5pm BST today (April 11). Tune in above.

A tracklist for the new album has not yet been shared – you can see the official cover artwork below.

MARINA is set to perform at Coachella 2025 today, before returning for the festival’s second weekend next Friday (18). Her other North American dates for this summer include the Governors Ball, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza.

A press release has told fans to “stay tuned for more news and music from MARINA, coming soon”.

During an interview with Rolling Stone about her upcoming sixth album last year, MARINA explained: “I feel like this next record’s going to be important, and I think the poetry book [Eat The World] is also reflective of that. I’m able to take a left turn and do something that was genuinely just for the joy of doing it. I’m in a separate part of my memory bank. That’s how it feels.”

She continued: “[…] Part of me is desperate to get things out, but also, part of me is just saying, ‘Enjoy this process’. Because this is my favourite thing: to build the record and build the world around it.”

MARINA then teased her new material last summer, which led to speculation that Lorde could be involved with the project.

In a four-star review of ‘Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land’, NME described the collection as perhaps MARINA’s “most personal record” yet. It added: “[Her] melodies and vocal hooks still don’t sound like anybody else’s. Nothing in this world could change her, and for that we should all be damn grateful.”

Speaking to NME about the LP, MARINA explained that she was no longer motivated by chart success, saying she “feel[s] like that ship has sailed”.

The singer went on: “I feel like, you know, I’ve had those moments, but as an artist, that’s not really what excites me anymore. It’s more like, ‘What am I interested in at the time? And what do I want to explore in my songs?'”

She also told NME that dropping “And The Diamonds” from her stage name in 2018 was a pivotal moment in her career: “I thought: ‘Anything that’s going to make me feel more authentic and more relaxed is a positive thing’. And I knew that the name was part of that.”
