Marina reveals she is working on her sixth album
Marina has confirmed that she is currently working on her upcoming sixth album which will be released next year.
The singer – full name Marina Diamandis – opened up on what she is working on after her slot at BST Hyde Park where she served as opening support for headliner Kylie Minogue this past Saturday (July 13). Speaking to Attitude, the musician said: “I am working on a new record, and I am loving it. It will definitely be out next year.” Marina also hinted at new music with a tweet that simply read: “album six.”
She also spoke about her poetry book Eat The World – which is set to be published on October 29 via Penguin Random House – saying: “I’m super excited about that. It’s something that’s a very different feel for me.”

The ‘How To Be A Heartbreaker’ singer also made sure to note that both the album and her book have nothing to do with each other, adding that the book “exists on its own thing. I can’t focus on more than one project at a time. It’s very difficult for me. I like committing fully, then moving on to the next thing. I’ll be doing some fun promo around it; lots of podcasts. There’s lots to talk about.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Marina reflected on opening for the Australian pop icon – who personally invited her to open for her on the date. “It was amazing! I love her as a human, and the crowd were pretty loving. Kylie has been one of my icons since I was 15 years old. I’ve been listening to her a lot the last year. I think we manifested this gig!” she said.
She added: “I haven’t played a show for a year and a half, so it has been an interesting, the run-up to this show, being put on a stage when you haven’t for a while.”
Since her breakthrough in 2009 – formerly under the name Marina And The Diamonds — Marina has released five albums, the latest of which being 2021’s ‘Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land’.
Speaking with NME at the time of the album’s release, the singer confirmed that the LP was motivated by political factors, and saw her take less interest in gaining chart success than in her previous releases.
“We’ve seen an explosion of all of these social problems that have been building for years and years. They’ve always existed, but some of us, including myself, have not really had an awareness of them or a full understanding… it’s impossible not to let that influence your music,” she said.
“[Other artists] might be looking for this perfect pop hook that’s potentially going to get on radio or lead to commercial success. Whereas for me, I do feel like that ship has sailed,” she added. “I’ve had those moments, but as an artist, that’s not really what excites me anymore. It’s more like, ‘What am I interested in at the time? And what do I want to explore in my songs?’”
