‘Marvel Rivals’ Johnny Storm, The Thing release dates, abilities, more
Marvel Rivals‘ first season is here, and Mr. Fantastic and Sue Storm have joined the game. But, with each season being split into two halves, we do have a rough idea about when The Thing and Johnny Storm will join the game.
Here is what we know and a rundown of the abilities and playstyle for both heroes, based on leaks so far.
‘Marvel Rivals’ Johnny Storm, The Thing release date
Johnny Storm and The Thing will release in Marvel Rivals on February 21, 2025, or February 28, 2025, – about 6-7 weeks after Season 1 begins. Season 1 is set to last for three months, which will take us to the middle of April, and the developers have already confirmed that the second half of the season will drop 6-7 weeks after the first, which falls on those dates.
Of course, things could always change, and these dates could shift slightly. However, NetEase has been pretty good at keeping up with player demand and requests since the game launched, so we don’t expect these dates to move.
Marvel Rivals Johnny Storm abilities
All of Johnny Storm’s (or The Human Torch’s) abilities have been leaked thanks to datamines. He is a Duelist that focuses on walling off areas or closing off lanes with fire barriers and pools to limit the opposing team’s options. Additionally, he also has a team-up with Storm that imbues her wind attacks with fire.
- Ultimate ability: Supernova – Unleash shockwaves to deal damage to enemies within range. During skill activation, the flame field will transform into a fire tornado.
- Movement ability: Plasma Body – Hold dash to enter a state of accelerated ascent.
- Ability 1: Pyro-Prison – Connect flame fields to form a fire wall that deals burning damage to enemies.
- Ability 2: Flaming Meteor – Dive towards the ground and stun nearby enemies.
- Regular fire: Fire Cluster – Launch forward a splittable fireball.
- Alternate fire: Blazing Blast – Launch a fireball to create a flame field at the targeted area.
We don’t yet have the abilities or details for The Thing. However, he is expected to be a Vanguard. We can guess that his playstyle will be more of a long-range Vanguard, able to throw rock projectiles and withstand a lot of damage if he does have to fight up close with his impenetrable skin. The game doesn’t really have a long-range tank yet, and The Thing could be a great fit.
