Before Matthew Perry’s untimely death, the Friends actor had spent the previous year promoting his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. Within its pages he spoke of his longtime struggle with addiction, sobriety and his time on the hit ’90s sitcom.
The book has officially risen to a No. 1 bestseller on Amazon and aims to take you through his rise to fame as a tennis star in Canada, then as the hilarious and sarcastic character Chandler Bing. Right from the opening line, which now holds a new, melancholic feeling, he says how he “should be dead,” speaking about his multiple near-death encounters.
Throughout the synopsis, it notes how open, honest and self-aware the 54-year-old was with each chapter as he talks about his longtime drug abuse as well as the peace he had found with sobriety.
Perry’s memoir is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Walmart in hardcover, Kindle and Audible editions. You can also preorder the paperback version, which will be available on March 12, 2024.
