The rapper shared her latest obsession during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday (October 23), complaining that she had taken so long to immerse herself in the world of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.
“Nobody told me Sex and the City was this good!” she said. “I’m pissed. Nobody said, ‘Megan, you should be watching Sex and the City. Girl, this for the culture. Watch it! I don’t even know how I like, stumbled upon it. I think I just kept seeing like, pictures of Sarah Jessica looking pretty as fuck.”
Check out the interview below.
“Her hair, her shoes, her outfits were always so beautiful,” she continued, on the subject of the actor. “And I was like, what is this show? Let me just watch it, let me get into it because nobody put me on.”
“So I started watching the show and I’m like, I cannot look away. This is the best thing! I’m watching it while I’m working out, I’m watching it while I’m in glam, I’m watching it when I don’t have nothing else to do, and I’m a busy girl. I’m like, squeezing Sex and the City in there. And I’m like, asking everybody, ‘Have you seen Sex and the City?”
The latest entry in the Sex And The City universe was the second season of And Just Like That, which aired on HBO Max in June 2023. The sequel show reunited Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes and Kristin Davis as Charlotte York-Goldenblatt, with a cameo from Kim Cattrall.
The original show ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2004, and spawned two spinoff feature films in 2008 and 2010.
In other Megan news, she is releasing her surprise new album ‘MEGAN: Act II’ on Friday (October 25), and has shared the record’s 13-song tracklist. It will include features from Flo Milli, Spiritbox, RM of BTS and TWICE.
The LP follows her 2024 album ‘Megan‘. In a four-star review of the album, NME shared: “All facets of Megan Thee Stallion have been on display throughout her career, from freestyles to mixtapes to studio albums. But they’ve not sounded this cohesive together till now (yes, even ‘Worthy’, with its self-empowerment mantra of a chorus and peppy pop-guitar beat). When the sizzling guitar solo rings out on ‘Cobra’, it escorts us out of the album – and heralds a fearless new era for Megan Thee Stallion.”
Previously speaking to NME as part of The Big Read, the rapper shared that she was working on “building her dynasty”. She explained that her ingenious and inclusive unofficial branding – will eventually embody a host of different ventures, saying: “A whole big ole brand, whole big ole company – it’s gonna be worldwide, okay? I really want it to be just a plethora of things.”
Megan will also release a feature documentary In Her Words on Amazon Prime Video on October 31, chronicling the rapper’s rise to fame and her evolution as an artist.
