Mia Goth joins the cast of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’
Mia Goth has joined the cast of Christopher Nolan‘s next film, The Odyssey.
Already announced for the all-star cast are Nolan’s former collaborators Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, and Robert Pattinson in undisclosed roles. Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron are also on board, making their first film with the Inception director.
Now, per Variety, MaXXXine star Goth has joined the cast for the film, which is based on the epic story by Greek poet Homer, written over 2,000 years ago. The Odyssey is scheduled for release on July 17 2026.
It’s not certain how closely the film will follow the original work, but Universal has promised “a mythic action epic shot across the world”. The Odyssey is a 24-book saga set over a decade, as Odysseus, king of Ithaca, travels home after the Trojan War.
The journey includes many obstacles along the way, including encounters with monsters such as a cyclops, sirens, and a sorceress, all of whom he battles with to get back to his family.

It is considered one of the most influential works of all time and adapted to film and TV frequently over the years. Most notably, it was the inspiration for the 1954 adventure Ulysses starring Kirk Douglas and provided the basis for the 2000 comedy O Brother, Where Art Thou? which was directed by The Coen Brothers and starring George Clooney.
Last month, the filming location was revealed, with parts of the film reportedly set to be shot on the island of Favignana, known as “goat island,” which is said to be the place where Homer imagines the hero Odysseus landing with his crew for provisions off of Sicily’s north-west coast.
Per Variety, sources say the production is also expected to film on Sicily’s Eolian islands, as well as locations in the UK and Morrocco. Shooting in Sicily is expected to start in March, with production already having begun.
Nolan is riding high after his most recent film, Oppenheimer, won Best Picture and Best Director at the Oscars, as well as becoming his most successful non-Batman film to date at the box office. The film continued its dominance at home, becoming one of the best-selling DVD and Blu-rays of 2024.
Elsewhere, Nolan named his favourite film of 2024, calling it “jaw-dropping” and “masterful”.
