Mike Myers impersonates chainsaw wielding Elon Musk on ‘SNL’ in spoof Trump Zelenskyy meeting

Mike Myers impersonated a chainsaw wielding Elon Musk on Saturday Night Live in a spoof of the recent meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

On Friday (February 28), the two leaders met in Washington D.C. with the intention of securing a minerals and defence deal. The summit was cut short after a tense argument erupted between the presidents and US Vice President JD Vance in front of the press, during which Trump said the Ukrainian leader was not “ready for peace” and accused him of “gambling with world war three”.

Last night (March 1), the tense meeting was spoofed on SNL, featuring a cringe-inducing Myers as an erratic Musk, while James Austin Johnson played Trump, Bowen Yang Vance, and Mikey Day Zelensky.

“President Zelensky,” Trump said in the skit, “You want to say a few words? Maybe tell Mr Putin how much you love him and that you’re sorry you invaded Russia? Maybe offer him one night with your wife?”

Day’s Zelensky only got a few words in before Vance interrupted: “Excuse me!? I’m sorry, what? I have to jump in here because that’s how we planned this. What happened to ‘thank you’? Remember ‘thank you’? You haven’t said ‘thank you’ once in the past 15 seconds I’ve been yelling at you.”

“You didn’t say anything about us being handsome,” he lamented moments later, with Trump nodding in agreement, quipping that Zelensky’s attire was inappropriate.

“Who shows up to the White House in a t-shirt and jeans like a garbage person?” he said as Musk – wearing a t-shirt and jeans – enters, manically revving a chainsaw around Trump’s head and awkwardly jumping around.

“Hi-hi-hi guys,” he stuttered. “Donald, what are you doing in my office? You know I’m the president now, right?” After saying he may or may not having been joking about his level of influence, he waved his fists and exclaimed: “Legalise comedy! Legalise comedy!” before falling quiet.

Trump simply responded: “I’m so comfortable with all of that.” At the show’s close, Myers appeared in a shirt that read: “Canada is not for sale,” which follows accusations that Musk was acting against Canada’s national interest and undermining its sovereignty.

Per CNN, more than 250,000 Canadian citizens and residents have signed a parliamentary petition urging Canada to revoke his citizenship and passport. His association with Trump has troubled many, given proposed plans to levy a 25% tariff on all Canadian imports next month, as well as annexing the country as the 51st state.

Elsewhere earlier this week, an anti-Elon Musk poster has popped up in London depicting a Tesla and urging people not to buy one of the billionaire’s “Swasticars”.

Spotted on the side of a bus stop in Bethnal Green, East London earlier this week, the poster leads with a banner reading: “Goes from 0 to 1939 in 3 seconds”.

The image also shows Musk photoshopped into a Tesla – the electric car company for which he is CEO – while performing his now-infamous gesture from Donald Trump’s inauguration rally in January. At the event, the billionaire slapped his chest with his right hand and flung his arm diagonally upwards in what many onlookers have condemned as being reminiscent of a Nazi salute.

Among Musk’s outspoken critics in recent weeks is his former partner Grimeswho has implored people to stop sharing images of the four-year-old son she shares with Musk, after he was put front and centre at a White House meeting earlier this month.
