Min Hee-jin re-elected as an ADOR board member for three more years
Former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin has been re-instated as an internal director on the company’s board for three years.
Korea JoongAng Daily confirmed on October 17 that the K-pop label – home to K-pop girl group NewJeans and a subsidiary under HYBE – held a board meeting to formally extend Min’s term as an internal director for ADOR, which was previously due to end on November 1.
The music executive’s renewed term as an ADOR internal director will now expire in three years after it’s due to begin on November 2. Meanwhile, a local court hearing regarding Min’s previous injunction to reinstate her as ADOR’s CEO was held on October 11, with the court is expected to make a ruling sometime before the end of the month.
The extension of Min’s position with the company comes a little under a month since she was first offered a reinstatement on ADOR’s board of directors on September 25. Her reappointment among the company’s ranks came about a month after she was announced to have stepped down from her role as CEO in late August, a move which she claimed was not her choice.
“The board made the decision regardless of the CEO’s wishes,” she said of her departure from the company at the time, calling the move “a grave violation of the shareholders’ contract”.
She would later file a court injunction for a shareholders meeting to have her reappointed as an internal director and ultimately, CEO, in mid-September, simultaneously releasing a statement that called her removal as ADOR’s CEO “a violation of the shareholders’ agreement”.
ADOR’s announcement of Min’s reappointment came after NewJeans held a surprise livestream on YouTube calling for HYBE to reinstate Min on September 11. According to the members, the livestream was held without HYBE’s knowledge and the original footage has since been deleted.
Last week, NewJeans member Hanni tearfully testified on workplace harassment at South Korea’s National Assembly. In her address to the assembly, the Vietnamese-Australian idol claimed that HYBE wilfully undermined the group, while she also accusing senior management of deliberately ignoring her.
