Moana’s Back! Watch a Preview of New Song ‘We’re Back’ From the Sequel
There’s just no telling how far she’ll go! Moana 2 is finally hitting theaters this fall, and a new preview of the film released on Thursday (Sept. 26) offers a first listen at one of the film’s tracks, fittingly titled “We’re Back.”
“The ancestors called on me to reconnect our people across the entire ocean,” an older Moana says as scenes of her journey across Oceania flash across the screen. It’s my job as Wayfinder to finish what has started. It will be harder than anything we have faced before.”
“Oh, finally, we’re back/ To who we’re meant to be,” Moana is heard singing on the anthemic track that soundtracks the one-minute clip.
In the upcoming film, Moana (voiced by Auli‘i Cravalho) reunites with Maui (Dwayne Johnson) for a new adventure with a fun new crew. “After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced,” per the movie’s description.
The voice cast also features the return of Rachel House (Gramma Tala), Temuera Morrison (Chief Tui) and Nicole Scherzinger (Sina). Hualālai Chung, David Fane and Rose Matafeo will star a Moana’s new crew members Moni, Kele and Loto, respectively. Awhimai Fraser will voice the mysterious Matangi; Gerald Ramsey will take on the role of Moana’s ancestor, Tautai Vasa; and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda will portray Moana’s adorable little sister, Simea.
Moana 2 will be released in theaters on November 27. Watch the preview clip below.
