Mogwai have shared the mysterious new single ‘God Gets You Back’ and announced a huge 2025 world tour – see below for details.

The Scottish band shared a snippet of their new song on social media, with the band explaining in a press release that multi-instrumentalist Barry Burns thought the track “needed some melody or vocals”.

“I couldn’t come up with the lyrics so I asked my 7 year old daughter to make some up, and she did and I sang them,” he shared.

The band also said that they are “immensely excited about heading out on our first worldwide tour since the pandemic”, adding: “We’re going to some brilliant places and can’t wait to perform our new songs.”

Mogwai are due to stop off in Europe in February in cities like Amsterdam and Berlin, before moving on to the UK later that month. After finishing up shows at London’s O2 Brixton Academy and Edinburgh’s Usher Hall, they will then embark on a brief Asian leg in March until they hit US soil in April.

Tickets for the tour will go on pre-sale on September 18 at 10am BST, which you can access by signing up to the Mogwai mailing list before midnight tonight (September 17). General tickets will go on sale September 20 at 10am local time – get your UK tickets here, your US tickets here and see below for a full list of dates:

Earlier this year, Mogwai shared the trailer for their new documentary If The Stars Had A Sound, which will reportedly follow the band from their inception in 1995 to the present day. The documentary was directed by longtime Mogwai collaborator Antony Crook.

Braithwaite said of the documentary: “We’re incredibly excited for people to see Antony’s film If the Stars Had a Sound. It originally started as a short film around leaving Scotland to record in upstate New York in early 2020 but when the pandemic happened that all changed. Both ourselves and Antony persevered with the record and the film throughout the pandemic with the film growing throughout.

“Antony’s film tells the story of how we all came out the other side. I think he’s made something truly special.”

The documentary was given its world premiere at SXSW in March this year.
