Montana Calls First Billboard No. 1 With ‘Bandida’ a ‘Fulfilled Dream’

“Being part of a No. 1 on Billboard is an achievement and a fulfilled dream alongside my team,” says Mexican newcomer Montana, who scores his first leader on any Billboard list with “Bandida,” his co-billed collaboration with La Adictiva and Grupo Marca Registrada.

The song jumps 7-1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart dated June 15.

“There is no formula, just work,” he says. “I feel grateful to the people who support me and listen to my music, to my fellow musicians for giving me the opportunity, to God and to life.”

Meanwhile, for La Adictiva, “Bandida” marked the group’s 13th No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay. “It’s an honor as it’s very gratifying to be part of a list where ‘Bandida’ stands out,” La Adictiva’s Isaac Salas, Omar Melendres, Jerry Corrales tell Billboard. “A song that was prepared with great care and thinking about the public. We appreciate the unconditional support from the fans.”

“Bandida” gave Grupo Marca Registrada its second champ in over a year, following “Di Que Sí,” with Grupo Frontera, which spent three weeks in charge.

“Bandida” is one of two collabs on La Adictiva’s latest eight-track EP On the Road, released May 17 via Altafonte.

The song also scaled to No. 2 on the overall Latin Airplay chart, the highest-charting song for both Montana and Grupo Marca Registrada on the tally. It marked their first and second top 10s, respectively. For La Adictiva, it marked the ensemble’s 14th top 10, and highest-charting song since 2021’s “Ya Solo Eres Mi Ex” also hit No. 2.
