‘Mythic Quest’ has been cancelled after four seasons: “To all our fans, thank you for playing with us”

Mythic Quest season 3

Mythic Quest has been cancelled after just four seasons.

The Apple TV+ series aired its fourth season finale on March 26 following its return in January.

Despite the show ending on a cliffhanger, an updated episode of the finale with a new ending will premiere next week on the streamer.

“Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, ‘Mythic Quest’ is coming to a close,” said series executive producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby, and Rob McElhenney (via Variety).

“We’re so proud of the show and the world we got to build – and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it. To all our fans, thank you for playing with us.

“To our partners at Apple, thank you for believing in the vision from the very beginning. Because endings are hard, with Apple’s blessing we made one final update to our last episode – so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over.”

McElhenney created the show along with his It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia co-star Charlie Day and Ganz, with all three executive producing.

The show, which first aired in 2020, also recently spawned the spin-off series Side Quest, which also recently debuted on Apple TV+. That show was a four-episode anthology, with each episode exploring the lives of different people involved in the Mythic Quest game.

Many fans expressed their disappointment at the show’s cancellation with one writing: “To say this decision is short sighted would be an understatement. Mythic Quest was a phenomenal show that balanced its comedic nature so well with its more dramatically paced moments, while tackling the games industry. I am sad.”

Another added: “Aw man. This is a bummer. Mythic Quest was one of my favourites.”
