NCT Dream release special winter album, led by H.O.T remake ‘Candy’
K-pop boyband NCT Dream have made their comeback with a winter special album ‘Candy’.
On December 16, NCT Dream unveiled a festive music video for their latest single ‘Candy’, which is a remake of the 1996 H.O.T track of the same name. The new song acts as the lead single off the NCT subunit’s winter special album ‘Candy’, which was released digitally the same day and physically earlier today (December 19).
The new visual features the boyband singing and dancing to the track from a cosy living room decked out in Christmas decorations and a vibrant arcade.
“Looking up to the sky / Above my head / Got my feelings under control / But as I stepped towards you / I realised we stand below the same sky,” they sing in the upbeat chorus.
The new release marks the first time an NCT sub-unit has released a holiday-themed album. Their SM Entertainment labelmates EXO previously dropped a special winter album as an entire group with 2013’s ‘Miracles in December’.
NCT Dream’s last release as a group had been ‘Beatbox’ in May. The record led by the title track of the same name is a repackaged version of their second studio album ‘Glitch Mode’ from March 2022. It features three new tracks – ‘To My First’, ‘Sorry Heart’ and ‘On The Way’ – together with the 11 songs previously released on ‘Glitch Mode’. Their forthcoming album will be the group’s third release for the year.
The boyband also released their first feature film NCT Dream The Movie: In a Dream last. month. The film documented the group’s two-day performance at the Seoul Olympic Stadium earlier this year. It featured individual interviews and candid stories from all NCT Dream’s members, as well as never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage of them practising for the concert.
