NCT’s Jaehyun makes solo debut with ‘J’, drops slick music video for ‘Smoke’
Jaehyun of NCT has released his solo debut album ‘J’, alongside a music video for lead track ‘Smoke’.
NCT’s Jaehyun made his official solo debut today (August 26) with the release of his first album ‘J’, led by the single ‘Smoke’. An accompanying music video for the song, which was released at the same time as the album, features Jaehyun battling an unseen entity that seems to haunt him.
“I got the smoke / Hold up you’re too hot, too hot / Smoke coming out the boombox / Hold up you’re too hot, too hot / Smoke coming out the boombox,” he sultrily chants on the chorus of ‘Smoke’.
‘Smoke’ is the third track off the album to receive video treatment. Earlier this month, Jaehyun released a joint music video for two B-side tracks called ‘Dandelion’ and ‘Roses’ as a pre-release project in the lead-up to his solo debut.
‘J’ marks his official solo debut, even thought the singer has released a number of songs under his agency’s SM Station and NCT Lab project. The most recent of which was last August’s ‘Horizon’, which he told NME in a previous interview was inspired by “horizontal moments, like when views are really calm and peaceful”.
In other K-pop news, girl group KISS OF LIFE have announced their upcoming 2024 ‘Kiss Road’ world tour, featuring concerts in Asia and the US. The tour will be the K-pop act’s first-ever world tour, following their 2023 debut.
