NCT’s Jaehyun unveils lighthearted ‘Unconditional’ music video
NCT vocalist Jaehyun has released a music video for his new single ‘Unconditional’.
In the new ‘Unconditional’ music video, Jaehyun sings about a lover as he lounges outside as a group of friends chase each other around a heart-shaped piñata. Later, they cheer the singer on as he smashes it open with a baseball bat.
“I just bought my baby Prada / Got another for her straight from the store / Fly her round the world so she can hang by the shore / That’s my baby, that’s my sugar /I don’t need no honey on the side that’s unconditiona-nal,” he sings on the chorus.
‘Unconditional’ comes just two months after the K-pop star made his official solo debut with his album ‘J’, which was led by the single ‘Smoke’. Jaehyun also dropped music videos for the B-side tracks ‘Dandelion’ and ‘Roses’ as a pre-release project.
In a four-star review of the record, NME’s Tamar Herman wrote that it “makes quite a stylistic declaration, dedicating itself to slow jams and sensual love songs”.
The new single is also his last release before enlisting for his mandatory military service. His agency SM Entertainment announced last month that the singer had been accepted into the army military band, and that he would enlist on November 4. This will make him the second NCT member to enlist, after rapper Taeyong enlisted in the Navy back in April.
In other NCT news, SM Entertainment officially terminated its contract with former member Taeil last week, amid his involvement in an ongoing sexual assault investigation. The label announced his departure from the boy band in August after learning that he was being investigated.
