Netflix drops gripping new trailer for ‘Hellbound’ season two
Netflix has released a new trailer for season two of hit K-drama series, Hellbound.
The new trailer for Hellbound season two opens with cult leader Jung Jin-su (Kim Sung-cheol) returning from hell, eight years after the events of season one. Quietly returning to society with the help of his followers, he watches the media spectacle that surrounds Park Jung-ja (Kim Shin-rok), who has also been mysteriously resurrected after being dragged to hell.
“During my time in hell, I was in countless different worlds,” says Jung Jin-su, declaring that he will share the truth with the world. As news of his return gets out, the different religious and political factions are thrown into chaos. At the end of the trailer, Jin-su asks to meet with Park Jung-ja as reporters watch from a newsroom.
Hellbound season two is set to premiere October 25 exclusively on Netflix. Like the first season, which aired in 2021, this upcoming season will comprise six episodes.
The Netflix K-drama is adapted from the 2009 webtoon of the same name, also written by series director Yeon Sang-ho. However, the storyline in the Netflix series diverges significantly from its source material.
Last March, actor Yoo Ah-in was dropped from the series after he tested positive for several illicit drugs while under investigation by the police. He was then replaced by Kim Sung-cheol in His role of Jung Jin-su.
In related news, Netflix also dropped a trailer for the new season of Squid Game starring Gong Yoo earlier this month. The hit series will return for its second season on December 26, and its third and final season sometime in 2025.
