Nintendo fans think new Switch games will be announced in the coming days ahead of the big Switch 2 presentation next week.

Nintendo confirmed the Switch 2 earlier this year with a brief, hardware-focused teaser trailer. Another Direct presentation was announced for April 2 ahead of a number of hands-on events, with fans hoping for news on price, release date and launch titles.

However there have also been plenty of rumours about another Direct focusing on the original Switch. Insider NateTheHate originally claimed the Switch presentation would come in February but now he’s saying that it will be shared later this week.

“To stop the constant questions: Yes, I’ve heard there is a Nintendo presentation this week — I believe it is on/around Thursday & it’ll be a Direct; but I’m not 100 per cent certain on the format at present,” he wrote on social media.

Some fans believe Nintendo will want to announce its plans for the original Switch before the Switch 2 takes the spotlight.

As it stands, the only confirmed Switch games set to come out in 2025 are Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A, neither of which have a firm release date. There have also been rumours that Nintendo has been working on remakes of The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker and The Twilight Princess since 2020 while the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong still doesn’t have a release date after being delayed in 2023.

Last year, Nintendo confirmed the Switch 2 would be backwards compatible so any old Switch titles should also work on the new console. Nintendo bosses have also said the new console would be “affordable” and the company had taken a number of measures to prevent scalping.

The Switch 2 doesn’t currently have a release date but according to internet sleuths, it should be released May 15.

In other news, it’s been confirmed that Indiana Jones And The Great Circle is finally coming to PlayStation 5 next month after launching on Xbox at the end of last year.
