Noel Gallagher roasts musician in crowd at Cardiff gig: “You’re a solo artist? With a haircut like that?”
Noel Gallagher has paused one of his live shows to roast a musician in the crowd – check out footage of the moment below.
The interaction took place during Gallagher’s gig with the High Flying Birds last night (July 17), when the band performed a huge headline set at Cardiff Castle in Wales.
Midway through the setlist – which included hits from both Noel’s solo discography and his work with Oasis – the Britpop icon paused the set to chat with a member of the crowd looking to get his attention.
In fan-captured footage of the moment, the frontman is seen speaking to a fan who attempted to hand him a CD of his own work, and soon ends up being jokingly berated by the Oasis legend.
“You’re in a band? You’re not in a band… what’s on the fucking CD then?” Gallagher is seen asking the fan. “You’re a solo artist? With a haircut like that?”
From there, it appears that the crowd member tries to tell Noel that the hairstyle was inspired by his own, to which Noel responds: “What? You copied me? In what respect… your hair doesn’t look like mine, what the fuck are you talking about. You’ve got a perm.”
After then poking fun at the aspiring musician going by the stage name “Just Sam”, the High Flying Birds singer also addressed the request of an audience member to have their daughter come up on stage and join him for the performance. “So you want me to get your daughter to play the guitar, are you fucking mental? Have you been smoking crack? Is that your mum… is she always this annoying?
“Yeah, why don’t you all fucking come up. Go on, is there anyone else who is talented then? Make a queue out there, one at a time. This is not the fucking X Factor or fucking Cardiff’s Got Talent, right.” Check out the moment in full above.
The set came as part of Gallagher’s ongoing run of headline shows, which celebrate the release of High Flying Birds’ latest studio album ‘Council Skies’.
Elsewhere in the set in Cardiff, the singer, songwriter and guitarist dedicated ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ to the England football team, following their 2-1 defeat by Spain in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday (July 14).
In other Noel Gallagher news, the frontman recently hit out at Dave Grohl, urging the Foo Fighters frontman to stop calling for an Oasis reunion.
For several years, Grohl has campaigned for the band to get back together, which has drawn the ire of Gallagher. Speaking on Matt Morgan’s podcast post-Glastonbury – where Noel and Grohl had caught LCD Soundsystem’s Pyramid Stage set from side-stage – the Oasis guitarist and vocalist recalled bumping into the former Nirvana drummer at Worthy Farm.
“I did actually bump into Dave [Grohl]. He was about three feet away from me when I was watching LCD Soundsystem and he was staying in the same hotel I was staying in. I would just like him to wind his fucking neck in about Oasis. I wouldn’t talk to him. I haven’t got time for that fucking mob any more,” Gallagher recalled.
Elsewhere, Gallagher praised Irish group Kneecap for their performance at the festival and shared a previously unheard version of ‘Up In The Sky’ from Oasis’ upcoming 30th anniversary edition of ‘Definitely Maybe’.
His tour continues tonight (July 18) with a show at Robin Park Arena in Wigan, and again on Saturday (20) with a show at Alexandra Palace Park in London. Visit here for remaining tickets to all upcoming shows.
