‘Old School RuneScape’ releases metal soundtrack album
Jagex has released an album of reworked tracks from the Old School RuneScape soundtrack.
‘RuneScape: Battleaxes And Ballads’ has been created by composer Mykel Dunn, who gives each classic RuneScape soundtrack a battle metal makeover.
“Old School RuneScape is synonymous with rock and metal, and there are whole generations whose music tastes have been influenced by watching RuneScape machinima of heavy tracks (‘RSMVs’). That’s why Jagex, Laced Records, and Regen Audio have united to celebrate classic (as well as some recent) RuneScape tracks with the ‘Battleaxes And Ballads’ album,” reads a description of the collection.
The full tracklisting for Runescape: Battleaxes And Ballads is as follows:
- ‘Scape Main (Remix)’
- ‘Sea Shanty 2 (Remix)’
- ‘Autumn Voyage (Remix)’
- ‘The Bane Of Ashihama (Remix)’
- ‘Barbarianism (Remix)’
- ‘Wilderness (Remix)’
- ‘Amascut’s Promise (Remix)’
- ‘More Than Meets The Eye (Remix’
- Sands Of Time (Remix)’
- ‘Nightfall (Remix)’

The ten-track album is available to stream now, while a vinyl edition will be released via Laced Records later this year. Pre-order it here.
Laced have previously released a number of Runescape soundtracks, including ‘God Wars Dungeon’, ‘Elder God Wars Dungeon’, ‘Old School Combat Classics’, and ‘The Orchestral Collection’, alongside an original soundtrack collection.
Laced have also put out soundtrack albums from Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil and Tekken 8.
It comes after Square Enix released a 175-track version of the Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth soundtrack earlier this year as a digital download and limited-edition CD boxset. An orchestral world tour will also kick off in August, allowing fans the opportunity to “experience all new symphonic arrangements” of the music of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
In other news, David Hasselhoff has been revealed as the face of a new climate change initiative from non-profit organisation PlanetPlay.
The Make Green Tuesday Moves campaign sees a number of limited-edition items available to buy in a variety of games, with the funds going to organisations fighting against climate change
