‘Ori And The Will Of The Wisps’ releases new soundtrack album on streaming
Ori And The Will Of The Wisps was released in 2020 to widespread critical acclaim. It’s well-known for its soundtrack, and now composer Gareth Coker has released a piano version of it on streaming services.
Titled ‘Ori And The Will Of The Wisps – The Piano Collections’, the album contains 11 songs and clocks in at 49 minutes and 48 seconds. It us available now via Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
The collection is moody and melancholic, with haunting piano melodies played beautifully throughout.
Coker got his start in video game music in 2011, composing the soundtrack for minimalist sci-fi racer InMomentum. His next project was Ori And The Blind Forest, the first game in the Ori series, also beloved by fans and critics alike.
He has since gone on to write music for Minecraft, Halo, Immortals Fenyx Rising, ARK, Prince Of Persia and more.
Coker won the Ivor Novello award for his Ori And The Will Of The Wisps score back in 2021. The game won Best Original Video Game Score. “Can’t quite believe this one, especially being British. A genuine honour to be given this award for @orithegame from a jury of other composers and songwriters,” Coker tweeted.
Coker is also a gamer himself. In an interview with NME, he said: “You’ll never convince me that you can write great music for a game without seeing or playing it.”
His composing methodology was inspired by his time teaching English in Japan: “I play the game before I actually start writing the music because it helps me truly understand what the game is all about. And it’s not dissimilar to the Japanese mentality of the group as the most important thing.”
In other news, Michael Myers is returning to Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone for its annual The Haunting event.
