Oscars 2025: Watch the James Bond tribute performance by Doja Cat, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Raye and Margaret Qualley

The 2025 Oscars paid tribute to the James Bond franchise with performances by Doja Cat, BLACKPINK‘s Lisa, Raye, and an appearance by Margaret Qualley.

The segment, hosted by Halle Berry – who lead 2002’s Die Another Day with Pierce Brosnan – comes soon after the news that the franchise will now be controlled by Amazon after acquiring it from long-time producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

A new joint venture between the two parties sees both share the intellectual property rights, with creative control moving to Amazon MGM Studios as part of the deal and both parties retaining ownership. There has been no official announcement regarding the next James Bond film, with the last being Daniel Craig’s farewell in 2021’s No Time To Die.

The segment began with a dance sequence featuring Qualley before a slew of performances covering various Bond theme songs.

Lisa began with a cover of Paul McCartney‘s ‘Live Or Let Die’, after which was Doja Cat channelling her inner Shirley Bassey for ‘Diamonds Are Forever’, and then Raye with Adele‘s ‘Skyfall’. Watch the segment below.

Before the ceremony, Berry had a moment of her own – recreating her infamous Oscars moment in 2003 with Adrien Brody, in which the actor kissed her spontaneously when he came onstage to accept his award for Best Actor.

The acquisition of the James Bond franchise has been met with sharp criticism by fans, with one claiming that “it’s clearly the end of the franchise for long-time Bond fans”.

This year’s Academy Awards ceremony is taking place tonight (March 2), with comedian Conan O’Brien taking over the reins as host for the first time.

Emilia Pérez leads this year’s nominations with 13 nods, while The Brutalist and Wicked follow behind with 10 nods each. Papal thriller Conclave and Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown each have eight nods, while Anora follows with six nods.

You can follow rolling coverage of the ceremony right here, with a winners list being updated throughout the evening.

This year will be getting a change, with no performances for Best Original Song, while the 2025 ceremony also honoured Los Angeles after the recent wildfires. Additionally, Harrison Ford has pulled out of presenting due to illness.
