‘Palworld’ is set to come to mobile

Palworld: A player can be seen riding on a Pal

It looks like a mobile version of Palworld could be in the works, despite an ongoing legal battle with Nintendo.

It’s been reported that Palworld developer Pocketpair Inc. has signed an agreement with Krafton, which describes itself as “the most widely desired mobile game provider”.

Krafton is behind the hugely successful battle royale title PUBG: Battlegrounds and has published mobile games like Defense Derby, Golf King: World Tour, Smash Legends and Ronin: The Last Samurai.

According to the press release (translated via Google) “Krafton Inc. has signed a licensing agreement with Japanese game developer Pocketpair, Inc..

“Through this contract, Krafton will expand the Palworld IP to the mobile platform. It plans to faithfully reinterpret and implement the original’s main fun elements to fit the mobile environment. The project will be handled by the development team of ‘PUBG STUDIOS,’ a creative studio under Krafton.”

Last month, Palworld was released on PlayStation. Days before the launch though,  Nintendo and The Pokémon Company took legal action against Pocketpair, claiming that Palworldinfringes multiple patent rights”.

Pocketpair responded to the “truly unfortunate” lawsuit by promising to take the “appropriate legal proceedings”.

Meanwhile Krafton recently confirmed it had acquired Tango Gameworks after the studio was shuttered by Microsoft, and work has already begun on a sequel to Hi-Fi Rush. Krafton boss Changhan ‘CH’ Kim said the “last minute” deal was about “legacy” rather than profit. “Although they did not have a big success in their games, we saw many creatives worth pursuing. That’s why we wanted to work with that organisation.”

“When I think about our fans, I think what they really care about is Hi-Fi Rush sequels,” he added.

In other news the long-awaited remake of Silent Hill 2 is due for release next week and, according to early reviews, it’s a faithful take on a horror classic that’s also taken to new heights.
