Pokémon has confirmed a collaboration with LEGO will be released next year, the 30th anniversary of the hit video game series.

LEGO has previously released a number of Super Mario sets, with Animal Crossing and The Legend Of Zelda also getting turned into LEGO in recent months. Now it seems a series of official Pokémon-inspired sets will launch next year.

“For the first time, the LEGO Group will be bringing the most loved Pokémon to life in a brand-new way, with play experiences that will delight new and existing fans alike. Fans should keep their binoculars peeled and their Pokédex ready to experience the world of LEGO Pokémon, coming their way in 2026,” reads the announcement post, with Nintendo also sharing a brief teaser trailer.

No further details about the sets have been revealed but the video does hint towards a Pikachu model.

“Lego just hit an infinite money glitch,” wrote one fan on Reddit. “I’m never going to financially recover from this,” said another. “I want scale Lego models of whole towns from the game. My wallet will not be safe,” another fan suggested, with others asking for gym arenas.

As it stands, there are more than 1000 different Pokémon that have been introduced in the games, with some of those available in different forms thanks to things like Mega Evolutions, so it’s unlikely every ‘Mon will be available in Lego form.

Previously Pokémon brick figures were available via Mega Bloks but according to rumours, that license is set to expire at the end of the year.

2026 will be the 30th anniversary of the original Pokémon games; Red & Green. Nintendo hasn’t announced how it plans to celebrate the milestone yet but many fans are hoping for those games to be made available again. Later this year, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is due for release and will act as a spin-off from 2013’s X & Y.

LEGO has also announced a Game Boy set will launch in October.

Earlier this year, Pokémon boss Tsunekazu Ishihara said he believed the series could reach its 100th anniversary, but only if they keep innovating. “If we become complacent and go with the flow, that’s when it will go downhill.”

In other news, Xbox Game Pass has confirmed six more titles will be coming to the platform this March.
