Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin Arrested After Reported Standoff With Police

Puddle of Mudd lead singer Wes Scantlin was arrested after allegedly resisting arrest during a traffic stop.

On Wednesday (July 31), the 52-year-old rocker was pulled over for a traffic violation by police in Burbank, Calif. During the stop, officials discovered Scantlin had an outstanding warrant from a previous crime for allegedly having a weapon at an airport, according to TMZ.

The “Blurry” singer allegedly refused to step out of his Hummer H2 after several requests from law enforcement, prompting them to call in a “crisis negotiator.” After Scantlin continued to resist, he was reportedly pepper-sprayed by officers.

When the pepper spray still didn’t entice the musician to exit his vehicle, SWAT members were deployed at around 4 a.m. to break his car window and shoot “non-lethal” pepper balls to get him to surrender, TMZ reports.

The “Stoned” singer was then reportedly taken to a hospital to flush out his eyes. He was ultimately arrested for his outstanding warrant and the new charge of resisting arrest. His court date is scheduled for Aug. 20.

In 2017, Scantlin was arrested for allegedly attempting to bring a BB gun on a plane at LAX Airport while boarding a flight to Texas.

Scantlin has had numerous other run-ins with the law over the years. The musician was arrested in 2012 for an altercation with a flight attendant. That time, he was charged with public intoxication. Three years later was busted for his second DUI in a month. During that arrest, he was also charged with possession of marijuana. In 2016, he was charged with felony vandalism after being arrested at a home he lost in foreclosure.
