The Grammy-winning artist takes fans through the unexpected cultural force that hip-hop has become in his latest book, taking you back to the 1970s when the genre began to take off. Paired with historical moments are personal tidbits that haven’t been heard about the artist yet including what it was like growing up in a musical family in Philadelphia as well as saving up for his first-ever vinyl. The official description also claims you can expect the “encyclopedic fluency and passion of an obsessive fan but also the expertise and originality of an innovative participant.”

Fans of Questlove should add this title to your cart to expand your merch collection with unique and treasured pieces. Since the cover art features a bold purple shade, it could also make a worthy coffee-table book to keep on display. And if you’re looking for gifts for music lovers or musicians, Questlove’s latest book is a worthy contender — especially for hip-hop lovers.

The drummer has often traded his drumsticks for a pen as he’s previously published music-centered books including Music Is History, which you can get for 44% off, as well as his cookbook Mixtape Potluck for 48% off and his first-ever book and memoir Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove, which is currently on sale for less than $20.
