Ray J Says ‘There May Not Be Any OnlyFans’ Without His & Kim Kardashian’s Sex Tape
Hindsight is 20/20. Just ask Ray J, who recently opened up about the cultural impact of his infamous 2007 sex tape with Kim Kardashian.
In an interview with Club Shay Shay posted Wednesday, the singer said he thinks “everything would be different” if the tape had never been made. “We would all be different,” he hypothesized. “We’d have on different clothes.”
“Probably more people would be going to college and getting an education and being successful,” he added. “There may not be any OnlyFans and all the opportunities like that. Are we a part of the cure, are we a part of the disease? I don’t f–kin’ know. All I know is I’m just trying to make it right.”
He also confessed to feeling embarrassed by the tape now that he’s a father. “The whole thing is wacky,” he said. “With my kids, it’s not OK.”
Ray J shares a young son and daughter with estranged wife Princess Love. The couple announced that they were headed for divorce earlier this year, and in April, the “Sexy Can I” musician filed for joint custody of their children.
Ray J and Kim K dated for about three years starting in 2003. The release of their adult film is regarded by many as the catalyst for the Kardashian family’s subsequent fame and billion-dollar empire (aside from Robert Kardashian representing OJ Simpson in the football star’s 1995 murder trial).
The SKIMs founder has since welcomed children of her own with ex-husband Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. In a 2022 Kardashians episode, the “Donda” rapper claimed to have retrieved an unreleased cut of the tape from Ray J, a gesture Kim said she was touched by at the time.
However, Ray J chimed in shortly afterward to say that the hand-off never happened. “All of this is a lie smh – Can’t let them do this anymore – so untrue,” he commented on a clip of the episode on Instagram.
