Red Velvet singer Seulgi has returned with her solo sophomore mini-album ‘Accidentally On Purpose’, featuring the lead single ‘Baby, Not Baby’.

The record and video were released on March 10 via SM Entertainment. ‘Baby, Not Baby’ is produced by Grammy winner Erick Serna, known for his work on Olivia Rodrigo‘s hit album ‘Guts’ in 2024. The song also credits longtime SM Entertainment producer Kenzie as a lyricist.

The music video for ‘Baby, Not Baby’ features Seulgi as the star of a campy 2000s television show. It follow her as someone who always ends up in public incidents that turn her into a social outcast.

“I’m dangerous (Dangerous), pretending to be complex / I don’t need to force myself to fake it / Your eyes will sparkle (Sparkle), I’ll make you thrilled / It’s so fun to show me now and watch you fall in lo-lo-love,” she sings on the song.

‘Accidentally On Purpose’ is the long-awaited follow-up to Seulgi’s debut solo mini-album ’28 Reasons’, which came out in 2022. At the time, NME‘s Rhian Daly gave ’28 Reasons’ a glowing five-star review: “Seulgi has long proved herself as an intoxicating and masterful performer in Red Velvet, and now, she’s ready to apply that experience to her own shining moment.”

Following the release of ‘Accidentally On Purpose’, Seulgi is next expected to make a comeback with bandmate Irene as part of their sub-unit. SM Entertainment unveiled in a separate earnings report published earlier this month that she and Irene are set to return with a new mini-album together, their first in five years since ‘Monster’.
