Renee Spearman & Kim Burrell’s ‘Tap Into It (The Source)’ Tops Gospel Airplay Chart

Renee Spearman’s “Tap Into It (The Source),” featuring Kim Burrell, bounds from No. 5 to No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart (dated Feb. 3).

The song advanced by 7% in plays during the Jan. 19-25 tracking week, according to Luminate.

Spearman solely wrote the track, which becomes the first Gospel Airplay leader for each artist.

Spearman, originally from Los Angeles, is working on an album, Features, that’s due later this year and is set to include “Tap Into It.”

“This past year has been such an exciting time for my career, so for ‘Tap Into It’ to go to No. 1, I am truly overwhelmed,” Spearman tells Billboard. “Kim Burrell is one of the greatest singers of our time, and no one sings like her. I’ve always wanted to work with her, and I was actually shocked that she agreed to do it because of her status in the music industry.”

“Tap Into It” marks Spearman’s sixth Gospel Airplay entry and follows “I Got God,” which hit No. 7 in March 2022, becoming her second of three top 10s. “I Love Him,” featuring Hezekiah Walker and Dr. Holly Carter, reached No. 6 in February 2020. Spearman first charted in 2012 with “Whoa to Wow!” (featuring D.J. Rogers), which peaked at No. 24.

For Burrell, from Houston, her first Gospel Airplay chart-topper also marks her third top 10, among six appearances. Her launch entry, “Sweeter,” hit No. 7 in 2011 and her second top 10, “Thank You Jesus (That’s What He’s Done),” climbed to No. 3 in April 2016.
