Republic Buzzes With Signing of Indie Artist Tanerélle, Release of New EP ‘Electric Honey’

Singer-songwriter-actress Tanerélle has signed with Republic Records. In tandem with that exclusive announcement, the R&B outlier is set to release her label debut, the EP Electric Honey, this Friday (May 31).

“Tanerélle is a forward-thinking artist with a well-defined vision, sonically and aesthetically,” says Ken Jarvis, Republic’s senior director of A&R. “Working with an artist who is as ambitious, intelligent and intentional as Tanerélle is a joy. I am excited for the levels we will reach with our partnership as we continue to foster her talents.”

In advance of the EP’s arrival, Tanerélle recently released her latest single “Better Days.” Accompanied by her stirring COLORS performance, the track showcases the Atlanta native’s ethereal vocals and space age-music vibe integrating R&B, rock/alternative and dance/electronica.

Prior to signing with Republic, Los Angeles-based Tanerélle released the 2023 EP For Sport; her prior EPs include 11:11 and 82 Moons. According to Republic, her indie catalog — featuring tracks such as “Smear Campaign,” “Continuum,” “Mama Saturn” and “Won’t” — has accumulated over 100 million streams.

Having most recently performed in Europe as part of Masego’s Where We Goin? tour, Los Angeles-based Tanerélle has also landed high-profile syncs for various projects including Issa Rae’s Insecure on HBO (“Nothing Without You”), Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It on Netflix (“In Women We Trust”) and NBA 2K22.

“I’ve always dreamed of being a storyteller,” Tanerélle tells Billboard. “Being able to build worlds or dive into worlds has always been a haven for me, and I’ve been blessed to bring that dream to life independently for the last eight years. It was important for me to build my own foundation, brick by brick, in order to truly advocate for myself and know my worth. It feels so good to have finally found a safe space to continue to create while having the resources to amplify my art, my world and my mission. It’s been such a long road, but it’s been a divinely covered one. I’m thankful for the lessons on the way that have readied me for this moment.”
