Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Partners With Gamma, Drops ‘Shaq & Kobe’ With Meek Mill
Rick Ross has officially brought his Maybach Music Group imprint to Larry Jackson‘s gamma with the release of his and Meek Mill’s latest collaboration, “Shaq & Kobe.”
Though the rumor mill had been swirling regarding the nature of Ross’ tie-up with gamma, which was confirmed by Billboard last month, “Shaq & Kobe” signals the first release for the MMG captain since his 2021 album Richest Than I Ever Been.
Thanks to Breyon Prescott, gamma’s executive vice president of content, Ross’ MMG imprint becomes the latest chess piece for the new company.
“You know Breyon and I have been making money together for a long time, even more important, we have always been able to do great business, which is why I look forward to this partnership with gamma. This is a big move for Larry to be in the position he’s in and for me to be in the position I’m in it’s only right we come together and make some HISTORIC moves,” says Ross in a press release.
“Rick Ross epitomizes the multimedia and multi-faceted content pioneer that gamma. was created to amplify,” adds Jackson, the company’s CEO and co-founder. “We couldn’t be happier to formalize our relationship, welcome him to the gamma. family, and propel the trajectory of an already well-established empire. We’re beyond excited for the world to experience his surprise, highly anticipated collab reunion album with Meek.”
“Shaq & Kobe” marks the reunion of Ross and Meek after years of tension between the MMG teammates. The track showcases the same flair and explosiveness that made them a lauded duo dating back to Mill’s initial signing to the label. Ross first signed the Philly MC to MMG in 2011 and previously collaborated on compilation albums such as Self Made Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and Vol. 3. Their most acclaimed records include Meek Mill’s “What’s Free” and “I’m a Boss.”
