The announcement of the new tour comes after Williams hinted to fans that he would be hitting the road again “soon” just last week.
Around that same time, he shared details for the soundtrack of upcoming biopic Better Man, in which he stars as a reimagined CGI monkey version of himself. The album will be released a day after the film’s UK release date (December 26), and it features re-recorded versions of songs from Williams’ catalogue that feature in the film.
In a social media post, Williams shared a pre-order link to purchase physical copies of the album – which come with a signed poster. Every album purchase on the site also entitles customers to “early access to the next UK & EU tour”, it reads. “More details are coming soon…”
Better Man, directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman), tells the life story of Robbie – from his early days in childhood to his first taste of success with boyband Take That.
It will also dive into Williams’ massively successful career as a solo artist, covering the record-breaking achievements he accrued with albums like 2000’s ‘Sing When You’re Winning’ and 2002’s ‘Escapology’.
Many fans reacted to the trailer upon release last month, with lots praising the bizarre character concept in the biopic. “This looks amazing, and completely bananas! Can’t wait to see this!,” one wrote. Another added: “Looks totally incredible. Cannot wait. Planet of the Apes does Robbie Williams.”
The news of the upcoming tour comes after the artist took to the stage as one of the headliners for BST Hyde Park earlier this summer. Since then he has told fans that a new album is coming soon, and revealed that he is also working on “building hotels”.
