Robert Pattinson reportedly being eyed for major ‘Dune 3’ role
Robert Pattinson is reportedly being eyed for a major role in Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune: Messiah – find out more below.
According to a Deadline report, Villeneuve is working on the finishing touches for his Dune: Messiah script, and is supposedly keen on enlisting Pattinson for a key role in his third Dune film.
While Deadline‘s sources have noted that no official offers have been made to Pattinson just yet – Legendary has declined to comment on the matter – the actor is currently being favoured for the role of the villainous Scytale.
Should Robert Pattinson be added to Dune’s all-star cast, he will star alongside Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, Anya Taylor-Joy and more.
Dune: Messiah has yet to receive a release date, but is reportedly due to begin filming this summer. Messiah will see Villeneuve adapt Frank Herber’s second Dune novel of the same name. It will also seemingly mark Villeneuve’s final Dune film.

In the book Dune: Messiah, Paul Atreides (Chalamet) has been firmly established as the leader for the Fremen, known as Muad’Dib, for some years. As his power grows, he struggles to control the ferver of the religious beliefs behind his reign, as well as threats from outside figures.
In a four-star review of the second film, NME wrote: “As with the first movie, Part Two proves a pulse-poundingly immersive experience, courtesy of cinematographer Greig Fraser’s stunning visuals, production designer Patrice Vermette’s wildly imaginative sets and some inspired sound design work. This is particularly evident during the film’s exciting central set piece, when Paul has to prove himself by riding a giant sandworm, a punch-the-air moment that was teased in the first part and pays off wonderfully here.”
Recently, Chalamet spoke about the similarities between his performance as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown and the political message of Dune, saying both films warn to “be wary of cult-like figures”.
