Sabrina Carpenter announces ‘A Nonsense Christmas’ special on Netflix
Sabrina Carpenter has announced ‘A Nonsense Christmas’, a holiday variety music special set to stream on Netflix later this year.
The show will see Carpenter perform songs from her 2023 Christmas EP ‘Fruitcake’, which includes a festive version of her 2022 hit ‘Nonsense’. She’ll also be joined by musical and “comedic guests” – according to an announcement shared to Twitter/X.
“The holidays have always been so special to me,” Carpenter said. “I am excited to bring my take to a classic holiday variety show — infusing my love of music and comedy to make something that is uniquely me.”
‘A Nonsense Christmas’ will be available to stream on Netflix on Friday, December 6 at 6pm EST (10pm GMT).

Elsewhere, Carpenter recently revealed that she was “alone” in wanting to release ‘Espresso’ as ‘Short N’ Sweet’s lead single.
The track spent a full month at Number One in the UK earlier this year, reached Number Three on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in 15 other countries. Earlier this month, it reached one billion streams, becoming the third fastest song on the platform to reach that figure, and Adele recently described it as “my jam”.
However, Carpenter told Variety that not everyone thought releasing it was a good idea. “I was completely alone in wanting to release ‘Espresso,’” she said. “Not so much from my immediate team. But when it came to ‘the powers above,’” she air-quoted, “There was a lot of questioning behind whether it made sense. But they trusted me in the end, and I was happy that I believed in myself at that moment.”
‘Short n’ Sweet’, which was released last month, was given four stars from NME. “[…] It feels like the 25-year-old singer is at something of a turning point. Keep Carpenter’s musical calling cards, justify the hype, and she’ll soon be levelling up to major festival headliner – and this record largely gets the job done.”
The album reached Number 1 on the Billboard album charts, leading to Travis Scott‘s label disputing the figures in a letter of complaint to the chart company.
Earlier this month, Carpenter performed at the VMA Awards, treating fans to a medley of ‘Please Please Please’, ‘Taste’ and ‘Espresso’. At one point during her performance, she kissed an alien before segueing into ‘Espresso’ from a portion of her recent single ‘Taste’. Carpenter also paid homage to Britney Spears by playing a snippet of audio from the latter’s Mars-set video for ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’.
Following the performance, Spears took to her Instagram Story to share that she thought the performance was “weird”, saying: “Why is she kissing an alien on stage? I adore her. I love her to death. I didn’t understand that part. Why didn’t she kiss a girl? Like, that was weird.”
Carpenter is due to embark on a UK and European headline tour next year, with the trek including two nights at The O2 in London. Find any remaining tickets here.
