Sabrina Carpenter Lounges Beachside in Retro ‘Espresso’ Music Video
Sabrina Carpenter‘s “give a f—s are on vacation,” as she proclaims in her new single “Espresso,” and the pop superstar unveiled a summery music video on Friday (April 12) to capture that carefree feeling.
In the clip, the 24-year-old singer is seen enjoying a day by the beach and on a boat, rocking a slew of pin-up style swimsuits and beachwear. “The song is kind of about seeing femininity as your super power, and embracing the confidence of being that b—-,” Carpenter told Vogue. “Since the day I heard the song, I saw a beach atmosphere—and more specifically this kind of old school [and] modern environment. [I wanted to capture] the playfulness that I like to use throughout all of my videos. I also just wanted a pool car, to be frank.”
“Espresso” arrives just before the singer is set to take the stage at Coachella Music and Arts Festival this weekend. The Girl Meets World alum is one of several artists slated to perform at both weekends of this year’s festival, which will be headlined by Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat and Tyler, the Creator as well as feature a reunion concert from No Doubt. Also on the lineup are Peso Pluma, Lil Uzi Vert, J Balvin, Blur, Ice Spice and more, with performances kicking off Friday (April 12).
Carpenter last released music in November 2023, dropping a six-track holiday EP titled Fruitcake. Before that came the deluxe edition of her 2022 album Emails I Can’t Send, which recently led the singer to her first top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Feather” peaking at No. 26 last month.
