Scarlett Johansson confirms she’ll be in ‘Jurassic World 4’
Scarlett Johansson is joining the ranks of Jurassic World 4.
The actress confirmed her participation in the upcoming entry of the dinosaur franchise film in a recent chat with ComicBook. While the film hasn’t received a title or a release date, it already has a script, a director and its first major actor attached to it.
Jurassic World 4 is due to be directed by Godzilla and The Creator filmmaker Gareth Edwards, while its script was written by returning Jurassic Park writer David Koepp. Johansson said of the film’s screenplay: “The script is so incredible. David Koepp wrote it. He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He’s so passionate about it, which is so awesome.”
Scarlett Johansson shared that she has been a longtime fan of the franchise since its 1993 debut: “I’m an enormous Jurassic Park fan. It’s one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. I remember seeing it so vividly. It was like life-changing. It was mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.”
She continued: “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable.”
Per Variety, the fourth Jurassic World movie will begin an entirely new story that is separate from the pre-existing trilogy. Variety also noted that Johansson will lead the new film along with Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali and more.
The Jurassic World franchise kicked off in 2015 and spawned two sequels: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World: Dominion (2022). All three films were led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who will not be returning for the new movie.
